AC Milan make final decision on Florenzi

Alessandro Florenzi had a positive first season with AC Milan after arriving on loan with an option to buy from Roma.

During the last summer transfer window AC Milan tried to add a new right back to their ranks. After a careful evaluation, Maldini decided to bring in Roma’s versatile man Alessandro Florenzi. The Italian could occupy every possible position on the entire right wing. A characteristic that has often been used by Pioli this season.

Despite some physical problems, Florenzi made 30 appearances across all competitions this season scoring two goals.  The 31-year-old did a decent job on the right wing and was also used by coach Stefano Pioli on the left to replace Theo Hernandez in times of need.

AC Milan have decided to reward Alessandro Florenzi for his contribution. Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the Rossoneri will exercise their option to make Florenzi’s transfer permanent but the final fee may be less that 3 million euros. The Giallorossi are open to offer Milan a small discount.

Davide Calabria will continue to serve as Pioli’s number one choice on the right with the former Roma ready to give a helping hand on every occasion. In addition, Florenzi will be a very useful name to respect UEFA’s squad list restrictions on domestic players.

A win-win scenario for the Rossoneri who in this way acquire a player of international experience. Alessandro Florenzi has been part of the Italian national team for the last decade making 48 appearances with the Azzurri.
